Carlsbad Car Accident Kills 1

Police believe speed may be to blame for a Carlsbad car accident that killed one person. It happened Monday night at the intersections of  Calle Barcelona and Rancho Santa Fe Road.

Police say a Buick was allegedly speeding when the 33 year-old driver ran a red light, hitting a red Mustang as it prepared to make a left turn. Witnesses at the scene reportedly attempted CPR on the driver of the mustang until the firefighters and paramedics arrived to take over the live-saving procedures.  Unfortunately, the man could not be revived and the 20 year-old driver of the mustang died at the scene. Footage of the wreckage from Channel 10 News shows that his Mustang was ripped in half in the accident.
