Pedestrian Accident in El Cajon

Visibility may be to blame.

A fatal pedestrian accident claimed the life of a man in El Cajon Thursday evening.

Officials say, residents along Dehesa Road west of Sycuan Casino called 911 around 7:20 p.m. after they heard a woman screaming in the road. An elderly woman driving a 1995 Honda Civic collided with a 43-year-old El Cajon man who was allegedly walking in the roadway at the time. The force of the crash shattered both car windows and crumpled part of the roof of the Honda. The elderly couple in the Honda received bruises to their hands and face.

Police are investigating a deadly San Diego car accident that left one woman dead in San Marcos. The accident, involving two cars, happened yesterday afternoon. Authorities have not released details of the accident, only saying it happened on W. San Marcos Boulevard after 4 o’clock in the afternoon.

The victim’s identity has not been released.

Every year, over 40,000 Americans are  killed in traffic accidents.

Carlsbad Car Accident Kills 1

Police believe speed may be to blame for a Carlsbad car accident that killed one person. It happened Monday night at the intersections of  Calle Barcelona and Rancho Santa Fe Road.

Police say a Buick was allegedly speeding when the 33 year-old driver ran a red light, hitting a red Mustang as it prepared to make a left turn. Witnesses at the scene reportedly attempted CPR on the driver of the mustang until the firefighters and paramedics arrived to take over the live-saving procedures.  Unfortunately, the man could not be revived and the 20 year-old driver of the mustang died at the scene. Footage of the wreckage from Channel 10 News shows that his Mustang was ripped in half in the accident.

Man Killed in a DUI Accident in San Diego

Police are investigating a deadly San Diego car accident involving an alleged drunk driver. Officials say 29-year-old John Mathew Hajosy was killed early Sunday morning when the car he was driving was struck head-on by a wrong-way driver.

According to police, the impact of the accident sent Hajosy’s car over the center media of Route 94, forcing officials to close almost the entire highway in order to get to the victim. Hajosy died at the scene.

Another possible San Diego knockout attack has police on high alert. This, after a Ocean Beach man came forward this week claiming he was possibly the victim of the ‘knockout’ game on Valentine’s Day night.

In November, local news stations reported on two possible knockout attacks in the Gaslamp Quarter. The Valentine’s Day attack allegedly happened near Sunset Cliffs. In an anonymous letter sent to OBRag.org, a person calling himself a fourth-generation Ocean Beach resident said he climbed the stairs near a seawall and walked up Pescadero Avenue when he was suddenly sucker-punched several times in the face. The victim said two attackers included one man in a gold party mask and another possibly in a silver mask. They were also wearing jeans and white hoodies.

A fatal hit and run accident claimed the life of a San Diego college student Wednesday night.

It happened in Carlsbad, at the intersections of Palomar Airport Road and Carlsbad Boulevard.

Police say the driver, a 17 year old girl, was allegedly drunk when she struck and killed  20-year-old Vinnie Zellefrow. The teenage driver fled the scene, but was found a mile south in a parking lot. She was driving a silver Chrysler Sedan and was arrested on accounts of vehicular man slaughter, felony hit and run, and felony drunk driving.

The family of a 4-year-old girl has filed suit against a San Diego Gas & Electric truck driver claiming that he was driving while talking on a cellular phone when she was hit.

Jaslene Arias was crossing in a crosswalk on Cottonwood Street with another girl and her mother, Ana Herrera Rodriguez, when they were struck on January 22nd. The mother, 39, was killed and both girls were severely injured.

The family is asking for damages to be determined at trial.
