Authorities are investigating a fatal head-on crash in North County. It happened Tuesday afternoon near the Lawrence Welk Resort.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 60-year old woman lost control of her Honda on Champagne Boulevard, veered right, then skidded to the left into oncoming traffic. As the woman’s car entered oncoming traffic, it was broadsided by another car driven by a 70-year old San Diego woman.

The driver of the Honda died at the scene. The driver and a passenger in the other vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.

San Diego police are investigating a hit and run accident involving a skateboarder. The incident happened Tuesday night in East Village.

The skateboarder is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Meantime, police are looking for a light-colored four-door Hyundai with possible damage to the hood and windshield.

The name or age of the victim has not been released.

As one of San Diego Personal Injury Attorneys, I tell victims of hit and run accidents the at-fault party is typically held responsible for reimbursing injury victims for the costs of the treatment of their condition and any other damages incurred in the wreck. Unfortunately though, when a driver flees the scene of an accident, injury victims find themselves struggling to cover expenses on their own.

Drunk driving is believed to be responsible for a deadly head-on car accident in Santee over the weekend. Police say a 30-year-old man – who is suspected of driving under the influence – drove the wrong way on state Route 52, causing a head-on crash.

The man – identified as Matthew Leonardo –  was killed, four people – including three children –  in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital with major injuries.

According to officials, Leonardo died at the scene and “had the distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage about him.” Toxicology tests are underway to determine if Leonardo was, indeed, driving under the influence.

A 31-year-old woman was killed in a San Diego Motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon. Police say the motorcycle she was riding in the Tecate area struck a truck that had turned in front of her, throwing her from the bike.

The driver of the Ford F-150, an 85-year-old man from Tecate, suffered only minor injuries from broken glass that cut the left side of his face.

Officials say the woman, who was wearing full safety gear, had little time to veer out of his way and broadsided the vehicle on the driver’s side.

A head-on car accident in San Diego close to Qualcomm Stadium resulted in two drivers sustaining several broken bones. According to 10News, one of the injured motorists, a 70 year old man, lost control of his Ford pickup truck as he was headed westbound. As a consequence, the man suddenly changed direction and crossed the roadway, striking an oncoming small passenger Dodge Stratus being driven by a 25 year old man.

The impact was so great that firefighters had to free both men from their smashed vehicles. The older man endured rib, hand, foot, and thigh bone fractures and the younger man required emergency care for breaks in both of his femurs. While it is unclear at this time why the pickup truck driver lost control and veered into oncoming traffic in the opposite lane, distracted driving or driver fatigue may have played a role.
