A San Diego elderly driver accident left two people injured and several cars damaged at the Plaza Bonita Mall Saturday.

Police say a 76-year-old driver lost control of her car in the mall’s parking garage, veering into a couple and hitting at least seven parked cars.

According to officials, woman was clipped by the car and her husband was thrown onto the hood before ending up being pinned underneath it. Neither suffered life-threatening injuries.

The 76-year-old driver was transported to the hospital.

There are nearly 2.5 million drivers in California over the age of 70. The DMV respects driver independence, but encourages all seniors to be vigilant about their health and the impact it may have on driving. The California DMV has issued a thorough Senior Guide for Safe Driving. There are also driving tests seniors can take to test their skills as well as eyesight.
