WE CARE a lot

(For Personal Reasons)

When I was just 10 years old,
life took a dramatic turn that would become the beating heart of my work as a lawyer.

It was a typical Sunday, and my family and I were at church,
gathered in the parking lot after the service.
Little did I know that this ordinary day would soon become a nightmare.

As I was walking towards our car, a sudden roar shattered the peaceful atmosphere. A Ford station wagon, driven by a woman who had mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brake, careened toward me.

In an instant, chaos erupted. The car plowed through the crowd, and I found myself being run over by its merciless wheels.

Miraculously, I escaped with barely a scratch, but the same couldn’t be said for my beloved grandmother. Tragically, she lay pinned beneath the heavy vehicle, her life slipping away before my very eyes.

It was a scene of unimaginable horror.

The loss of my

grandmother

devastated our family.

My two aunts, who had witnessed the accident firsthand,
bore the brunt of the trauma, their lives forever altered by the events of that day. Grief cast a shadow over our once-happy home.

In the aftermath of this senseless tragedy, my family sought justice,
hiring a lawyer to navigate the legal complexities and secure a settlement.

When I was four,
my family immigrated
from Iraq during war times, to El Cajon, California.

My father traded his prestige as a lawyer there for the humble mantle of a liquor store owner here. After the move, money was scarce in our family – a fact made painfully clear by our one
and only family vacation to Disneyland where we could
not afford a single meal or treat.

From a tender age of 10, I was initiated into the world of work, starting alongside my father in his liquor store. But it was my
3 year stint as a busboy – from age 14 to 17 – in a bustling Mexican restaurant that taught me to work hard and tested my mettle.
For a mere dollar a day in tips, I bussed tables, each six hour shift a grueling lesson in perseverance.

My work ethic, honed through these early years,
became my greatest asset, propelling me to wins when others faltered.
I was able to pay my own way through law school because I was able to also work two jobs.

Outworking opposing lawyers is one of
my strengths.

After my grandmother’s tragic death,
I witnessed my family grapple with deep pain and anguish for years and years. Those dark days eventually lead me to my life’s work.

Although I’ve wanted to be a lawyer since I was five –
I used to walk around the house with a briefcase declaring so –
in my mid-twenties, I opened my own law firm,

and chose personal injury because of the empathy
I acquired FROM WITNESSING MY FAMILY’S GRIEF

and suffering from the loss of my grandmother.

My journey has taught me the importance of

compassion and understanding,

qualities that guide me in my work every day.

While the scars of the past may never fully heal, they serve as a reminder of the strength that lies within us all.

And as I look back on that fateful day, I am reminded that even in our darkest moments, there is hope for a brighter tomorrow.

TODAY, I AM PROUD TO HAVE
A LAW FIRM WITH A STELLAR REPUTATION, 23 YEARS IN THE BUSINESS,

and a team that advocates fiercely for those who have suffered unjustly. As a point of fact, one of my aunts is also on our team.
