Authorities are investigating a fatal head-on crash in North County. It happened Tuesday afternoon near the Lawrence Welk Resort.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 60-year old woman lost control of her Honda on Champagne Boulevard, veered right, then skidded to the left into oncoming traffic. As the woman’s car entered oncoming traffic, it was broadsided by another car driven by a 70-year old San Diego woman.
The driver of the Honda died at the scene. The driver and a passenger in the other vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.
Officials are still trying to determine why and how the driver of the Honda lost control of her vehicle.
