A roll away risk has prompted a recall at General Motors of nearly 69,000 vehicles – including trucks, SUVs, and vans. The recall affects certain 2013 models of the Chevy Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Avalanche, and Express. Also included are the GMC Sierra, Savana, Yukon, and the Cadillac Escalade.
GM says the vehicles may have been built with faulty park lock cables or malformed steering column lock gears. The vehicles can be shifted out of park even if the ignition key is in the off position or removed.

The company says it knows of no crashes or injuries caused by the problem. Dealers will replace the steering column free of charge if necessary.Vehicle recalls are serious issues that should not be overlooked. Please, for your safety and your passengers’ safety, please take your vehicle to the nearest dealer if you receive a recall notice in the mail. If the dealer refuses to repair the recalled part(s), contact a lawyer immediately. Drivers should not be made to handle of the financial burden of fixing an manufacturer’s mistake. In the case of car recalls, the law is on your side.
